Delays due to new messaging system
Correos, the Spanish postal operator, have informed us that the implementation of a new messaging system is currently causing delays in the customs processing of items destined for the Canary Islands (postal codes 35XXX and 38XXX), as well as Ceuta and Melilla. The system change is also affecting, to a lesser extent, certain items arriving from outside the European Union and addressed to other postal codes across Spain.

Ground handler strike 
Spanish Post have informed us that an indefinite strike by ground‑handling unions will begin on 30 March. The action will affect Madrid and Barcelona airports, among others, for several hours each day. As a result, processing delays may be observed.

Belgian Post have informed us that unannounced local industrial actions have been taking place in the Brussels area and parts of southern Belgium since 30 March, in response to organisational changes at bpost. Consultations between bpost and its social partners are scheduled for 1 April 2026, with no confirmed end date for the disruption. As a result, mail handling and delivery in the affected regions are likely to experience delays.

Adverse Weather Poste Italiane have informed us that adverse weather conditions currently affecting Sicily are impacting mail operations, and deliveries in the region may experience delays.  Airport Closure Post Italiane have informed us that the Cagliari – Elmas Airport will be closed during the night on 30th March only. As result, all mail/parcels for Sardinia region may be subject to delays around the closure period.

Chilean Post have informed us that new customs regulations require taxes on goods imported into Chile to be paid at origin. Many items are arriving without the required VAT or sufficient electronic advance data, leading to a build‑up of consignments awaiting customs evaluation. As a result, delays may be observed.

The designated operator of Italy, Poste Italiane, has informed us that a 24‑hour strike at Milan Malpensa on the 18 March 2026 affecting flights, potentially resulting in flight cancellations, operational delays, and broader disruption across airport services. Residual impacts may persist for several days following the strike.

We have been informed that mail and parcels destined for Peru and processed by our postal partner SERPOST may experience delays. This is due to an operational backlog within SERPOST’s network, which is currently affecting the timely processing and delivery of incoming international shipments.

Impact on Services
All mail and parcel items handed over to SERPOST may be subject to longer processing times. Delivery times within Peru may be extended while the backlog is cleared. Service levels may vary by region, depending on local capacity and processing constraints.

9 March 202613 March 2026BelgiumStrike & Demonstration

BPost has advised that nationwide demonstrations will take place across Belgium as the country’s national trade unions protest measures introduced by the federal government. These actions are expected to significantly disrupt mail and logistics operations. Key impacts include:

National Railway Network
Services will be heavily disrupted from Sunday, 8 March at 22:00 for a duration of 72 hours.

Public Transport Services
All public transport (excluding rail) will be suspended from Wednesday, 11 March at 22:00 until the end of Thursday, 12 March.

Major Disruptions on Thursday, 12 March
International airport operations will be halted. Schools and hospitals will be affected by strike action. Large-scale national demonstrations are planned throughout the country.

These industrial actions are expected to impact postal operations nationwide. Delays are likely during the strike period and may continue for a short time afterward as services resume.

The situation in the Middle East is continually evolving and we will issue further updates should the situation change. 

2 March 2026OngoingBrazilSevere Storm and Flooding

Brazilian Post has informed us that the cities of Juiz de Fora, Ubá, and Matias Barbosa in the state of Minas Gerais experienced severe storms on 24 February 2026. Heavy rainfall caused landslides and flooding across large areas, destroying homes and resulting in fatalities. A state of public emergency has been declared in all three municipalities due to the ongoing heavy rains. As a result, postal services have been suspended indefinitely in Juiz de Fora, Ubá, and Matias Barbosa until weather conditions improve and floodwaters recede. The postcode areas affected are:- Juiz de Fora 36000000-36107999; Ubá 36500000-36509999; Matias Barbosa 36120000-36122999.
